Chiba Prefecture (Chiba-ken) is located in the Kanto region (Greater Tokyo
Area) on Honshu island, Japan. The capital is the city of Chiba. Symbol's
design features a combination of the "chi" and "ha"
katakana characters. On Chiba's flag, the emblem is situated in the center.
The background color is light blue, which represents hope and development.
The emblem is trimmed in light yellow the color of nanohana. Chiba was
established by integrating Kisarazu Prefecture and Inba Prefecture on June
15, 1873. Accordingly, this date was designated as the Chiba's official
Citizens' Day (June 15).
