Iwate Prefecture (Iwate-ken) is located in the Tohoku region on Honshu
island, Japan. The capital is the city of Morioka. Iwate faces the Pacific
Ocean to the east, Iwate has mountains in the west, north and east, with
the valley of the Kitakami River running from north to south through the
center of the province and including the capital. Morioka attracts tourists
with local noodles such as jajamen, reimen, and wankosoba. Nambu Senbei,
a type of rice cookie, is considered a local delicacy.

SGI practice Soka Gakkai's particular form of Nichiren Buddhism. Butsudan
Buddhist altar Nichiren taught that by chanting "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo"
to the Gohonzon. SGI practitioners call this process a "human revolution."
