Kumamoto Prefecture (Kumamoto-ken) is located on Kyushu island, Japan.
The capital is the city of Kumamoto. The city's most famous landmark is
Kumamoto Castle, a large, and in its day, an extremely well fortified Japanese
castle. Kumamoto Symbol mark was created by taking the first syllable of
"Kumamoto"("ku" in Japanese letter) and combining it
with the geographical features of Kyushu.
