Yamaguchi Prefecture (Yamaguchi-ken) is located in the Chugoku region on
Honshu island, Japan. The capital is the city of Yamaguchi.The largest
city is Shimonoseki. Symbol is Combining the two characters used to write
of 'Yamaguchi', the design indicates a bird flying towards the sun. It
expresses the solidarity and progress of residents of Yamaguchi. Citrus
oranges are native to Yamaguchi Prefecture. The air is laden with the scent
of citrus oranges in May. The flowers bloom in all their glory for a month
and then bear fruits. The Genji clan and the Heike clan fought at Dan-no-Ura.
